Solebury Township Historical Society garden party recalls New Hope Impressionists’ Sunday gatherings

Posted

The Solebury Township Historical Society hosts its annual fundraiser, “A Garden Party with William and Annie Lathrop,” an afternoon to celebrate in the spirit of New Hope Impressionists William and Annie Lathrop’s famous Sunday afternoon gatherings.

Delectable small bites and signature cocktails including the Lathrop Lemon Rickey will accompany lively conversation, ragtime rhythms from the Michael Arenella Quartet and a live auction.

“A Garden Party with William and Annie Lathrop” will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the picturesque HollyHedge Estate. Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased at www.soleburyhistory.org.

“We are excited to host a memorable afternoon reveling in the spirit and history of the Lathrop’s contribution to our community,” commented Lorraine Gross, STHS chairperson.

“Our live auction promises to be the highlight as our guests will have an opportunity to bid on paintings by Carversville artist Joseph Crilley, a Max Hansen catered four course meal for six, artwork by Pearl Mintzer, an Impression-SIPS private party, and much more. Our own board member, Dave Smith, will be the auctioneer, promising an entertaining event.”

STHS President Marnie Leasure added, “Our committee has been working for months to bring back STHS’s annual fundraiser. We hope to see many Solebury residents along with our Bucks and Hunterdon County neighbors spend the afternoon supporting this year’s capital campaign, a new website benefiting members and guests who access our comprehensive archives.”

Period attire is encouraged but not required.
