Solebury awards gateway trail contract

Posted

Solebury Township had 12 contractors bidding on its project to create the Solebury Gateway Trail from Sugan Road to Kitchens Lane, and had a pleasant surprise Feb. 20, when the winning bid came in $200,000 below the expected price.

So, therefore, the board of supervisors awarded the contract to low bidder the Ply-Mar Construction Co. Inc., of Plymouth Meeting, for $887,576.

It was one of four bids that came in below the township’s estimate, said supervisor Chairman Mark Baum Baicker.

In other business, the board:

• Unanimously approved a bed and breakfast and short-term lodging facility at 3515 Windy Bush Road. It limited the occupants to two adults and two children.

• Unanimously approved changing the driveway access plan for the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Operation on Sugan Road operated by Malaika Spencer and her husband, Ian Knauer. The new plan calls for a separate one-way lane in, and — in another location — a separate one-way lane out. The couple plans to sell fennel wine, hold twice-a-week cooking classes and twice-a month dinners.
