See Christmas Past at James-Lorah Home

Posted

Christmas will be arriving early at the James-Lorah Memorial Home in Doylestown, where visitors will soon be able to visit 10 separate exhibition areas within the mansion, each decked out for an unforgettable Victorian Christmas.

See antique ornaments, a hand-built 19th century dollhouse, and a collection of historic dolls and toys. Learn about customs surrounding the Christmas holidays in Victorian Times. View ornate furnishings belonging to three generations of the James Family, including period gowns once worn by VIA 1895 Charter Member Miss Sarah M. James.

Public tours of the house built by Henry Mercer’s grandfather in 1844 are scheduled for 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 2 through 17. Group tours will be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Dec. 1 through 15.
