Seasonal Fonthill Castle evening tours now available

Posted

Fonthill Castle will present Fonthill Castle Evening Tours for guests throughout October, November, and December.

Fonthill Castle, located at 525 E. Court St., Doylestown, and operated by the Bucks County Historical Society (BCHS), was the home of Henry Mercer and an early example of reinforced concrete architecture.

Guided historic evening tours at Fonthill Castle will explore Henry Mercer’s home and showplace during intimate 45-minute guided historic tours of the castle’s unique rooms and artifacts. Fonthill Castle features 44 rooms, over 200 windows and 18 fireplaces. The castle’s interior features Mercer’s renowned, handcrafted ceramic tiles designed at the height of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Dates for this season’s Fonthill Castle Evening Tours, which began last night, are Oct. 26, Nov. 29 and 30, Dec. 7, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28.

“Fonthill Castle is a National Historic Landmark site and a true cultural gem in the heart of Bucks County. It is a pleasure to present special experiences that highlight its architectural features and hidden characteristics. Our evening tours are widely regarded as one of the best ways to explore the castle and see it in a new light,” said Marjan Shirzad, chief operating officer at the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle.

Tour times vary for these special tours. Tickets for October Evening Tours are available at mercermuseum.org/fonthillcastleeveningtours.
