School board record shows state Senate candidates’ path

Posted

State Senate candidate Jarrett Coleman began his political career when he was elected to the Parkland School Board in 2021. In the 10 months he’s served, he voted against the school budget and funding for the intermediate resource unit, which provides support for students with disabilities.

His school board campaign was based on anti-masking and repeated inaccurate and misleading information about curriculum. His current campaign website includes little detail on how he plans to improve education, a brief reference implying he wants to take funding away from public schools, using choice as an excuse to funnel tax dollars to private schools. Much like in his school board campaign, he offers little detail about his plans to help the people of Pa., only politically charged rhetoric.

Coleman asserts he wants ordinary citizens running the government, yet a Pennsylvania Capital-Star news article on June 4, reported Coleman’s campaign received more than $400,000 in funding from a few wealthy donors. As a voter, it appears to me Coleman will serve those wealthy donors, not someone like me.

We can’t afford to stay home on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
