Ronald J. Steinly, of New Hope, Pa., died at his home on Aug. 22, 2022. He was 74 years old.

Born in Sellersville, Pa., Ron was employed by Merck in Whitehouse Station, N.J., where he supervised the main frame computer operations. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Da Nang.

As a member of the New Hope community for close to 50 years, Ron loved his life there. He enjoyed many friendships and made friends easily wherever he went. He was a regular at the New Hope Diner, the Giant and especially the Cornerstone Gym Fitness Center.

Ron had many interests. An avid tennis watcher, he often attended the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadow, N.Y. Among his favorite players were Roger Federer and Serena Williams. He was a gifted gardener and was prideful of his plantings around his home. He loved everything British, enjoyed period dramas and mysteries on public yelevision and never missed “Downton Abbey.” An automobile fan, Ron was not at all light footed on the gas. Ron enjoyed classical music and some opera. Among his top favorites were Dame Kiri Takanawa’s rendition of Puccini’s aria “O Mio Babbino Caro” and anything played by violinist Joshua Bell.

Ron will be remembered as being a kind, helpful and loyal friend who could be relied upon whenever required. Laughter played a major role in his life. He will be sorely missed by everyone close to him.

At Ron’s instruction, funeral services will be private.
