Robert Charles Newcomb

Robert Charles Newcomb, age 68, Cynthiana, Ky., died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

Born in Queens, N.Y., on April 12, 1954 to the late Robert J. and Evelyn Rick Newcomb, he earned his master’s degree in counseling, was a retired instructional assistant from the Harrison County Board of Education and was a member of Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. Robert was a musician and had recently written a song with the lyrics, “Do you need darkness to see the light of day?” He began volunteering as a firefighter for Rieglesville Fire Department in Pennsylvania and served the last 23 years as chaplain for Harrison County Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Lehr Newcomb; two sons, Travis L. (Amber) Newcomb and Justin M. Newcomb; two daughters, Michelle R. McDaniel and Casey J. Newcomb; a sister, Lynn (Tim) Leichliter; six grandchildren, Dakota Hill, Morgan McDaniel, Caleb Newcomb, Ellayah Newcomb, Korbyn Newcomb and Oliver Newcomb; several nieces and nephews, and his Harrison County Fire Department family.

A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 at the Ware Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Julie Olt.
