Roadway reconstruction to close Hatfield Souderton Pike for several weeks in Franconia Township

Posted

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said roadway reconstruction will begin Thursday, on Hatfield Souderton Pike in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Thursday, Sept. 7, through Monday Oct. 11, Hatfield Souderton Pike will be closed and detoured 24/7 approaching Township Line Road for roadway reconstruction. Motorists will be directed to use Cherry Lane, County Line Road and Township Line Road.

Motorists are reminded that the slip ramp from Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) at Old Forty Foot Road to southbound Interstate 476 in Towamencin Township remains closed through mid-fall for reconstruction and widening. Motorists will continue to use the Pennsylvania Turnpike Lansdale Interchange to access southbound I-476.

Improvements to the ramp include widening the southbound I-476 on-ramp to two lanes; and constructing a second left turn only lane for Route 63 (Summneytown Pike) motorists to access the new slip ramp to southbound I-476.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

These operations are part of PennDOT’s Route 309 Section HT2 project, which covers 2.3 miles and is the second of three contracts to move to construction to build the five-mile-long Route 309 Connector Project in Montgomery and Bucks counties to enhance mobility and safety for motorists traveling between Route 309 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange.
