Road construction projects planned for next week in Bucks County

Posted

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the following construction projects:

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will continue bridge construction next week on Newportville Road in Bristol and Bensalem townships.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction: Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23, Newportville Road will be closed 24/7 between Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

PennDOT maintenance and contractor crews will be repairing deteriorated pavement on more than 40 state highways next week across the Philadelphia region.

The work locations in Bucks County include: Route 611 (Easton Road), in Plumstead and Bedminster townships; Bristol Road, in Warrington and Warminster townships; Butler Avenue, in New Britain Township, Chalfont and Doylestown boroughs; Easton Road, in Plumstead Township; Kellers Church Road, in Plumstead and Bedminster townships; Mearns Road, in Warwick and Warminster townships; and Street Road, in Warrington Township.

Crews will restrict travel lanes on these state highways to patch areas of deteriorating pavement. Motorists are advised to be alert of this moving operation and to expect intermittent lane closures and possible slowdowns when driving near work crews. All activities are weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zone and refrain from distracted driving to keep themselves and workers safe.

PennDOT would also like to remind motorists that potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads can be reported by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.penndot.pa.gov and clicking on “Submit Concern.”

Since Jan. 1, PennDOT has used more than 799 tons of asphalt to repair potholes across the five-county Philadelphia region.

Light pole installation will occur on Old Bethlehem Pike at Portzer Road in Milford and Richland townships, where a new roundabout was constructed and opened in November.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction: Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a periodic lane closure with flagging is scheduled through the Old Bethlehem Pike and Portzer Road roundabout.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this $1.9 million project, PennDOT’s contractor reconfigured the existing intersection into a single-lane roundabout to improve traffic flow and reduce the number of angle crashes. The new roadway lane widens at the roundabout entry points and transitions to an 18-foot-wide circulatory width.

Other improvements included constructing a five-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of the roundabout, and a bituminous multi-use eight-foot-wide trail to connect the St. Isidore’s Trail and the Blackledge Estates Trail on the west side of Portzer Road to enhance pedestrian and bicyclist mobility.

Grace Industries, Inc. of Bath is the general contractor on this improvement project, which is financed with 100% state funds.

Stormwater improvements are planned next week on several state highways in Montgomery, Bucks, and Delaware counties, under a $14.9 million project to upgrade stormwater management facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions in Bucks County from Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • A lane closure is scheduled on Route 332 (Richboro Road) between Hanover Street and Rock Way in Newtown Township.
  • A lane closure is scheduled on Jacksonville Road between Route 132 (Street Road) and Steamboat Drive in Warminster Township.
  • A lane closure is scheduled on County Line Road between Jacksonville Road and Madison Avenue in Hatboro, Montgomery County, and Warminster Township, Bucks County.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this stormwater improvement project, which is financed with 100% state funds.
