Riverside Symphonia to perform “Four Seasons: Two Perspectives”

Posted

Riverside Symphonia presents “Four Seasons: Two Perspectives,” at 8 p.m. April 13, at First Presbyterian Church in Lambertville, N.J.

The performance will showcase the enduring beauty of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” contrasting the passionate compositions of Astor Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.” Violinist Kinga Augustyn will join the Symphonia as the guest artist.

Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” stands as a timeless masterpiece, capturing the essence of each season through evocative melodies and intricate compositions. From the delicate blossoms of spring to the icy winds of winter, Vivaldi’s work remains a beloved cornerstone of classical music repertoire.

Complementing Vivaldi’s classic composition, Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires” offers a dynamic and contemporary interpretation of seasonal transitions. Infused with the sultry rhythms of Argentine tango, Piazzolla’s work breathes new life into the age-old theme of seasonal change, blending tradition with innovation in a “truly electrifying fashion.”

Augustyn first performed with Riverside Symphonia in 2015. She is known for her virtuosic talent and expressive performances. To make this concert more enjoyable for her audience and to continue the contrast further, Augustyn said, she’s aiming for a different sound between the concertos and therefore will be using a different bow for each one.

“We are thrilled to present ‘Four Seasons: Two Perspectives’ as part of our 34th season,” said Paul Kuhl of Riverside Symphonia. “This concert celebrates the rich tapestry of musical expression, from the Baroque elegance of Vivaldi to the fiery rhythm of Piazzolla. With the incomparable Kinga Augustyn joining us as our guest artist, we are certain that this will be an evening to remember.”

Tickets can be ordered online or by phone. Visit www.riversidesymphonia.org for information or call 609-397-7300. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door the evening of the concert.
