River Union Stage’s “Say Humbug to Hunger” to benefit local food pantries

Posted

Join River Union Stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Presbyterian Church of Milford, N.J., for the 14th annual “Say Humbug to Hunger” staged reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in support of fighting food insecurity through donations to Strike Out Hunger NJ.

All proceeds benefit the food pantries. Pay what you can starting at $5 to help the pantries purchase perishables like milk and bread or bring nonperishable food items to fill the pantry shelves. Credit card donations to Strike out Hunger NJ are also encouraged. Visit strikeouthungernj.org.

This year’s performance features added talent and staging to the performance that local audiences have enjoyed for over a decade. The script is adapted directly from a reader’s version written by Dickens, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the prose narrative as well as the more familiar dialogue of Dickens’ classic work.

“Say Humbug to Hunger” is sponsored by Shop Rite of Hunterdon, The Milford Merchant Association, Interlude Group, and River Union Stage and made possible by funds from the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

River Union Stage is a not-for-profit professional Equity theater.
