Riegelsville will launch a wreath on the river

The American Legion Post 950 Riegelsville Memorial Day Parade begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 29.

Joseph Slinsky will serve as parade marshal.

The parade forms at the Riegelsville Fire House at 12:30 p.m. and moves via Delaware to the bridge, WWI monument, and the cemetery. Vehicles move on Edgewood, Fern, Durham, Delaware, Easton, and Elmwood to the cemetery.

Parade moves to Delaware River Bridge for a Prayer of Commemoration for those who perished at sea, and Launching of Memorial Wreath, Vo11ey Firing, Echo Firing, Taps, and Echo Taps.

The parade moves to World War I Monument for the placing of Memorial Wreath, Vo11ey Firing, Taps, and Echo Taps.

The program at Riegelsville Cemetery includes: Invocation and Prayer of Commemoration, The National Anthem, Greetings, Placing of Memorial Wreath at Veteran’s Monument, Volley Firing, Echo Firing, Taps and Echo Taps.

It also includes In Flanders Field, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, Scholarships, a Memorial Day Address by Bill Cahill, major-retired, and the Benediction.

Everyone is invited to Riegelsville Post 950, American Legion, 238 Ash Lane for refreshments.

In the event of rain, the program will be cut to fit the circumstances. In the event of cancellation of the parade due to rain, a Memorial Service will be held at the Riegelsville Fire House, 333 Delaware Road, at 1 p.m.
