Riegelsville names Viana Boenzli new mayor

Posted

Following the March 8 resignation of longtime Riegelsville mayor Gregory P. Stokes, Viana Boenzli was appointed as his replacement on March 30 at a specially called Borough Council meeting.

Boenzli grew up in southern New Jersey and moved to Bucks County in 2007.

Since 2018, she and her husband, Erich, have operated a blog, “Maplewood Road” named after the Riegelsville street on which they live. She says they created the site when “…we realized that we have so much fun living in the ville that we want to share it with everyone.”

The site features recipes, arts & crafts and tutorial videos. Boenzli, the mother of two grown children, runs the site full-time with assistance from her husband and co-founder, who is also an active pilot.

Prior to becoming a blogger, Boenzli became a certified school nurse (CSN) at Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Ohio State University.

Stokes, a second-generation family and sports chiropractor, recently confirmed to the Heraldthat while he continues to operate his storefront business at 101 Delaware Road, he no longer resides in Riegelsville. When he left the borough is unclear. He declined to say where he lives now.

According to Pennsylvania General Assembly Title 8 documentation, elected borough and township officials are not allowed to hold office if they do not live in their elected municipality.
