Rartian River Music Festival moves entirely online

Posted
Marking its 31st season, due to COVID-19, the 2020 Raritan River Music Festival, winner of the National Award for Adventurous Programming from ASCAP/Chamber Music America, is taking place entirely online at 7:30 p.m. Saturdays through May 23, with links to every event available through the RaritanRiverMusic.org website.

Guitarists Laura Oltman and Michael Newman founded the Raritan River Music Festival with the promise of bringing live chamber music to historic venues in Hunterdon County.

The festival opened with a performance by the Argus String Quartet on May 2.

The Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will be joined May 9 by guitarist Rene Izquierdo. The evening will include music from the duo’s new MusicMasters release, “The Book of Imaginary Beings,” dedicated to the works of composer Leo Brouwer.

This special release party for the Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo’s recording will include the new duet composed for the duo and commissioned by Raritan River Music, as well as Brouwer’s arrangement of “The Fool on the Hill” and “She’s Leaving Home” by the Beatles, plus “Música Incidental Campesina.”
Additional performances are: May 16 – Meridionalis Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble; and May 23 – Philadelphia Flute Quartet.
