PPL Foundation calls for nominations for STEM Educator Awards

Posted

PPL Foundation invites the public to nominate a teacher for a STEM Educator Award, given through a competitive grant program that recognizes educators who engage students in science, technology, engineering and math.

“As an energy company, PPL is creating the utility of the future,” said Lissette Santana, chief operating officer of the PPL Foundation. “Supporting a strong foundation in education and STEM fields is critical to the success of today’s students and helps to create the highly skilled workforce of the future.”

PPL’s STEM Educator Awards recognize teachers who have demonstrated success in designing and facilitating STEM learning that engages the next generation of innovative thinkers.

Winning teachers will receive funding for classroom supplies and professional development. One outstanding classroom science teacher (K-12) will receive $2,500 for classroom supplies and professional development. Three teachers, one from each level – elementary school, middle school and high school – will receive $1,500 for classroom supplies.

Each nominee/applicant for the PPL Foundation STEM Educator Award must be a full-time K-12 teacher, employed in a public school within PPL Electric Utilities’ service area in Pennsylvania and have at least three years of experience teaching. Educators may self-nominate by applying directly. Colleagues, students, parents or community members can submit nominations for this award by visiting https://www.pplweb.com/nomination-form by Sept. 30. Teachers can apply directly at https://www.pplweb.com/application-form. Teacher applications are due Oct. 30.
