Political bias is blatantly obvious

Posted

My husband and I enjoy reading your paper. We have sent a donation and had planned to do so again. However the political bias in favor of Democrats and against Republicans is so blatantly obvious.

Every letter to the editor in the Oct. 20 edition of the Herald is anti-Republican. It is difficult to believe that letters have not come from any Republicans endorsing a Republican or were anti-Democrat.

We have been called “deplorables among other nasty names simply because we choose not to agree with the radical lefton some issues. I agree somewhat with the liberal left on the abortion issue but with the conservative viewpoint on most issues. I want a secure border but believe immigrants in immigrants’ entering our country legally. We almost had that a few years ago.

We had the Keystone pipeline enabling us to be energy independent for the first time that I can remember. Ater the last election, the wall at the Mexican border is no more and the pipeline is shut down. Gas prices are through the roof as we now again depend on the Middle East. Drugs and illegal immigrants are coming across our southern border and, we the taxpayers must take care of them. There are issues such as global warming but there are also priorities like how to pay for rampant inflation that makes paying for groceries, putting gas in the car increasingly difficult.

Both my husband and I came from lower- to middle-class backgrounds and college was never an option. After marriage, my husband worked full-time and traveled to Philadelphia to college at night, earning his chemistry degree at age 40. He co-authored a textbook and received 15 U.S. patents. We have never turned to the government for help and that’s the way we prefer it to remain.

My daughter, an oncology nurse, just retired at age 65 last March. She was a nurse continuously for 45 years, never taking a break. Our son, age 60, has worked for 40 years at the same chemical plant as safety and security supervisor and now also in charge of the demolition of several buildings no longer in use.

Neither my husband, daughter, son, nor I would ever dream of eaking out a loan and not paying it off, expecting and hoping that the government would forgive it, sticking it to the person of company that in good fait, gave out the funds.

In addition to this, our universities have brainwashed generations os students to look and listen only to the liberal side of an issue. Scary. There are at least two sides to every issue and they, of all people, should want to know both.

What has happened and is happening to our once-great country?
