The Plumstead Township Police Department is preparing for the sixth” Shop With a Cop” for children in elementary schools.
It’s a national program that pairs police officers with children to afford them a better Christmas. Many of the children are faced with life challenges such as a parent’s losing a job, homelessness, military deployment,economic shortcomings and other hardships.
Donations from residents and local business support the program. Each child is given a monetary gift card to purchase gifts for themselves and family members. More than a hundred children are expected to be in the program this year.
