Phillips’ Mill hosts “Not Your Run of the Mill Photo Show”

Phillips’ Mill hosts “Not Your Run of the Mill Photo Show” Phillips’ Mill Photo Committee members will be in the spotlight the last week of April, as the mill’s monthlong celebration of fine art photography wraps up with the “Not Your Run of the Mill Photo Show,” April 24 to 30.

“Mounting a members’ show was a longtime dream,” said Spencer Saunders, founder of the photography program and shows at Phillips’ Mill. One might even say it was the silver lining of the COVID restrictions that shut down the juried show last year. “Without a juried show to hang on the walls, our passionate group seized the day. Each of the 29 committee members assembled a body of work, and together with our digital team, created Phillips’ Mill’s first members’ exhibition,” Saunders explained. The show was a striking success. (It can still be viewed at phillipsmill.org/photography/members-photo-show.)

This year’s 2nd Annual “Not Your Run of the Mill Photo Show” will hang, “prints on the walls,” said Saunders, in the historic 18th century Phillips’ Mill. “This show is one of the prime benefits of joining the Mill Photo Committee,” explained Saunders. “It is the reward for all the hard work these volunteers put in each year across 20 different committees, from marketing to digital and social media to building walls, setting the lights and hanging the show.” Not to mention activities like writing the newsletter and organizing non-show-related events. “They’re a talented, dedicated group and I am just so proud to share their work with the world.” T

he Mill Photo members devote themselves to their art –– some in traditional styles, some bending the light, still others testing the limits of new photographic technologies –– and their work is recognized throughout the region, and in many cases throughout the country and the world. The Mill Photo Committee welcomes and encourages new members. In addition to organizing the shows, the committee shares their love of photography throughout the year through other photography-related activities and a newsletter devoted to the art of photography and the work of its members.
