Perry Pfeffer vintage rock concert poster collection in hands of Stephenson's Auction

Posted

Stephenson's Auction in Bucks County will hold a Sunday, Dec. 11 auction, which includes the last of the Perry Pfeffer vintage rock concert poster collection. Many of the posters are original printings, and some are artist-signed. All are from Pfeffer's personal collection, which he kept to the very end of his life.

The collection’s timeline starts in the psychedelic ’60s, a time when Perry Pfeffer was living in San Francisco and presciently acquiring now-classic posters -- sometimes from the artists themselves -- and ends in the early 1990s. Later in life, Pfeffer returned to his native Philadelphia and, in 2001, launched Postercade, a commercial website popular with poster aficionados worldwide.

In 2020, Stephenson's was contacted by a representative of the Pfeffer Estate and asked to auction his private collection. Stephenson's held Part I of the auction series later that year and Part II on New Year's Day of 2021. The December 11, 2022 sale concludes the series, so it is the last opportunity for collectors to acquire posters from this unique private collection.
