PennDOT plans Buckingham roundabout, other work

Posted

The intersection of Route 202 and York Road in Buckingham is considered one of the area’s most dangerous, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

To help make the crossroads, where there is no traffic signal, safer and reduce congestion, the agency plans to build a roundabout.

Intersection lighting and stormwater management measures will be installed, as well as sidewalks, multi-use trails and ADA-compliant crosswalks, said PennDOT officials.

A virtual public meeting to discuss the plan and take audience questions was held Tuesday evening.

A second improvement project involves routes 202 and 413. There, PennDOT intends to construct right-turn lanes on Route 202, improve alignment of left-turn lanes on all approaches, adjust traffic signal displays to align with the new lanes and replace the guide rail.

The projects are planned for 2027 and 2028.
