Peddler’s Village calls for entries for two summer Bucks Fever events

Posted

A new partnership between Peddler’s Village and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, which for nearly 40 years produced a series of arts-oriented events known as Bucks Fever, has culminated in two major summer events to be held at Peddler’s Village that will showcase the artistic and performance talents of participants well beyond the local region.

Online entries are now being accepted for the Bucks Fever Art & Sculpture Exhibition taking place June 15-30 and the Bucks Fever Talent Show set for June 22 and 23. The top cash prize for the Art & Sculpture Exhibition is $1,000 and the deadline for entry is May 1; the grand cash prize for the Talent Show is $3,000 and the deadline for entry is May 15.

Both competitions have modest entry fees that are waived if participants are members of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. For details and to enter, visit PeddlersVillage.com or call 215-794-4051.

“This is an excellent opportunity to highlight the exceptional talent throughout the Philadelphia and mid-Atlantic region,” said Bob McGowan, CEO of Peddler’s Village. “We are honored to be able to build on the legacy established by the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce and to vastly expand the events to include new artists and audiences—as well as significantly increased cash prizes.”

Artists are invited to submit information and photos of one, two, or three pieces of any media for consideration in the juried art and sculpture exhibition, which will be held in the Visitor and Event Center at Peddler’s Village, with free admission for all. Entries are due by May 1; there is an entry fee of $35 for each submission by participants who are not members of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. Exhibition participants will be selected and notified on or about May 13. Winners will be selected and announced on June 14. Prizes are: first place $1,000, second place $500, third place $350, and honorable mention $100.

Performers are invited to submit information and videos representing their talent in music, singing, dancing, comedy, spoken word, or variety acts for consideration in the juried competition and public talent show that will take place in the event tent at Peddler’s Village. Competition entries are due by May 15; there is an entry fee of $20 for each submission by participants who are not members of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. Selected participants from each category will be notified on or about June 1. General prizes will be awarded in the amount of $350, and one grand prize winner will be awarded $3,000.

Admission to the Talent Show on Saturday, June 22 will be free and open to the public. Tickets will be required and available soon for the show on Sunday, June 23, that will feature the finalists.

The Bucks Fever series of events at Peddler’s Village this year also will include the Brown Bag-It with the Arts series, featuring free outdoor musical performances on Fridays at noon from May 17 through Sept. 13.
