Peddler’s Village brings back a million holiday lights Peddler’s Village will again celebrate the holiday season this year with free displays and events.

They include a village-wide display of a million colorful holiday lights, the annual gingerbread competition and display featuring more than 100 handmade gingerbread creations, a Holiday Kickoff Weekend, a Holly Jolly weekend festival, strolling performers on select weekends, and periodic appearances by Santa as well as the Grinch.

Additionally, the Cock ‘n Bull will present a ticketed Brunch with Santa, and children can visit Santa each weekend for photos at Giggleberry Fair.

The festivities officially kick off Nov. 17, beginning with the daytime opening of the gingerbread display at the Visitor & Event Center and the Grand Illumination Celebration that begins at 4:30 p.m.

The 60-plus specialty shops and boutiques at Peddler’s Village — most of them locally owned — will be open each day and evening to welcome holiday shoppers with unique merchandise and personalized service. Parking and admission at Peddler’s Village are free year-round.

“We are proud to be a part of an annual tradition of creating joyful memories for visitors of all ages,” said Bob McGowan, chief operating officer at Peddler’s Village.

The lineup of holiday events taking place at Peddler’s Village this year includes:

•A Night with Mrs. Claus: 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Giggleberry Fair;

•Grand Illumination Celebration: 4:30 - 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Santa and Mrs. Claus will switch on one million festive holiday lights at 6:15 p.m. to the sounds of carolers, musicians, and sing-alongs. The holiday lights will be on display through Jan. 14. Admission and parking are free. This is a very popular event; arrive early, as traffic delays can be expected, and parking can reach full capacity.

•Gingerbread Competition & Display: Nov. 17 through Jan. 14. The deadline to enter the competition for a chance to win cash prizes was Nov. 8.

•Holiday Kickoff Weekend: Nov. 17 through 19. Visitors can enjoy a variety of live entertainment that will include carolers, strolling performers, Singing Santa, and other holiday surprises. Free admission and parking.

•Photos with Santa: Select days Nov. 18 through Dec. 17.

•Thanksgiving Dining: Thursday, Nov. 23 at the Cock ‘n Bull and Earl’s New American. Reservations required.

•Small Business Saturday: Saturday, Nov. 25.

•Nighttime Stories with the Grinch Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13, under the glow of the holiday lights. Dress warmly.

•Holiday Hustle 5K: in partnership with Scoogie Events, Thursday, Nov. 30, 6 p.m.

•Holly Jolly Weekend: festival Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2 and 3. Free admission and parking.

•Santa Family Brunch: Saturday, Dec. 16; Seatings between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Reservations and tickets required.

•Murder Mystery Dinner: “Midnight at the Masquerade” Thursday, Dec. 28, 7 p.m. Reservations and tickets required.

•Fire & Frost: Jan. 6-14, 2024, see a village-wide display of dozens of whimsical ice carvings, and on weekends fire artistry performances, carving demonstrations, a family-friendly Jack Frost scavenger hunt, and outdoor food and drinks. Free admission and parking.

From Monday, Nov. 20 until Dec. 30, shopping hours for the Village will be extended. Peddler’s Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
