Pebble Hill Church honors retiring celebration coordinator Larry Hall

Posted

Pebble Hill Church celebrated the retirement, Sunday, June 26, of Larry Hall, who served as celebration coordinator for the past 20 years.

For most of those years, Hall assumed the leadership of Pebble Hill’s Sunday Celebrations working with a Celebration Team.

Pebble Hill Church in Doylestown, is a diverse, peace-oriented community embracing all faiths, exploring spirituality in its many forms. Hall became involved in the Pebble Hill Interfaith Church Community in the early 1970s, a few years after Pebble Hill Church began in 1968.

He joined with his wife, Gimone, who was an active member of the community. They both participated in writing plays and musicals at Pebble Hill. Gimone became the editor of the Pebble Hill book, “Pebbles on the Hill,” about the history of Pebble Hill Church and its membership.

Larry created the church’s “16 Pebble Principles” which emphasizes inclusivity, nonjudgment, acceptance, joy, creativity, and affirming of one another. He became an ordained interfaith minister through the Pebble Hill School of Sacred Ministry, graduating as part of the first class in 2000.

The Sunday Retirement Celebration included words of praise and recognition for Hall’s tenure at Pebble Hill Church from Bill Mettler, a professional storyteller.

Hall worked as a newspaper reporter for The Intelligencer and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by James A. Michener, a resident of Tinicum Township, for his investigative reporting of a chemical company contributing to environmental pollution.

Other recognitions were from former Coordinating Minister Gary Culp, who joined the celebration virtually from Washington State, Nancy Hesch and Dave Perkins, longtime Pebble Hill members, and Jeff MacNair, the council president, who presented Hall with a plaque recognizing his tenure of service.

At the culmination of the celebration, Hall turned over the mantle of his role as celebration coordinator to Rosalind Cauffman, by removing his ministerial stole and placing it upon Rosalind’s shoulders.

A tree ceremony was held outside the church, where a tree was planted in honor of Hall followed by a festive meal for approximately 50 people.
