Pearl S. Buck paper abstract submissions being accepted through April 30

Posted

Pearl S. Buck International will host an international symposium on the grounds of the Pearl S. Buck Estate in Bucks County, September 26-28, 2024, co-hosted with Delaware Valley University and West Virginia University.

2024 is the 60th anniversary of Pearl S. Buck International’s founding by Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, humanitarian, and activist Pearl S. Buck.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Pearl S. Buck International and symposium partners invite scholars, researchers, writers, and anyone with an interest in Pearl Buck to submit abstracts in keeping with the theme, “Pearl S. Buck: Bridging Her Legacy into the Next 60 Years.”

Those submitting abstracts are invited to consider topics such as the intersectionality of Buck’s humanitarian, literary and advocacy legacy; Buck’s global impact on children, families, communities, and societies through her humanitarian foundations, Welcome House and the Pearl S. Buck Foundation (now Pearl S. Buck International); and the continued impact of Buck’s words and work into the 21st century. Submission topics do not need to be limited to these areas of interest. Anyone is welcome to submit an abstract.

Full submission guidelines can be found at https://pearlsbuck.org/symposium.

Abstracts are due April 30.
