Peaceful protest planned at Del Val, students demand common sense gun control

Posted

According to a May 28 press release, high school students will gather in front of Delaware Valley Regional High School after class, which ends at 2:30, on Wednesday, June 1.

The peaceful protest will take place in wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which left 21 dead—19 of them children. Students will wear black in mourning of these students lost to gun violence.

According to the press release, Del Val students also point to gun control in the U.K. as proof of its effectiveness: citizens there must undergo mental health screening and prove they have a legitimate reason before obtaining a firearm, and as a result, no school shootings have occurred after the 1996 Dunblane Primary School massacre.
