Paul E. Uhlig

Paul E. Uhlig, 89, of Coopersburg and Vero Beach, Fla., has been called home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a man of strong personal beliefs and convictions, living a life devoted to his Christian faith, family, and country.

Paul was the loving husband of Marilyn (Halfpenney) Uhlig and the late Olga (Trivino) Uhlig.

Born in Reading and raised in Doylestown, Pa., he was the son of Karl Helmuth and Adelaide (Zweizig) Uhlig. After graduating from Central Bucks West High School, Paul honorably served our country in the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of master sergeant.

Paul retired in 1996 from Teleflex after 40 years, and the much-loved Uhlig’s Jewelry & Gift Shoppe in Perkasie, Pa., that he and Olga owned and operated for 31 years.

After retirement, he and his wife Marilyn retired to Vero Beach, Fla.

Paul will be greatly missed by his wife; children, David Anthony Uhlig and his wife Patricia of Earlysville, Va., and Karl Edward Uhlig and his long-time companion Robin Hemmerle of Coopersburg; stepchildren Deborah Yerger and her husband Jeff, of Coopersburg, Mark Johnson of Quakertown, and Glen Johnson and his wife Lynne, of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and his ever-faithful companion, Skeeter.

He was predeceased by his parents, former wife Olga Uhlig, infant daughter Olga Lisa Uhlig, son Raymond Paul Uhlig, and grandson Scott Karl Uhlig.

Private interment will be at the Perkasie Mennonite Cemetery in Hilltown Township.
