Patricia Bowman Gessner of Doylestown, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 84.
Born in 1939 in Abington, she lived most of her adult life in Bucks County. She married Adam Gessner in 1961, and they raised two children in Upper Black Eddy. During those early years, Pat emphasized music education and served as piano accompanist to vacation school ministries. Pat also served on the Palisades School Board.
Pat worked for Bucks County Intermediate Unit as a budget specialist and prior to that had a fruitful career managing properties and accounting and contract administration for several firms.
Pat volunteered at several posts, including as a caregiver, a literacy tutor and a clerical assistant for the Bucks County DA’s office and Doylestown Hospital. She was Vice President of the Bucks County Genealogical Society and edited the newsletter; she provided computer support for NOVA Thrift shop. She served on projects for Forest Grove Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by son James Gessner (Shirley) and daughter Kathryn Gessner Calkins (Paul), grandchildren Jenny Gessner, Hannah Gessner, and Sterling Lippman, and best friend Marilyn Cook, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family were a great joy to her.
A memorial service will be held at the Forest Grove Presbyterian Church, 1856 Forest Grove Road, Forest Grove, PA 18922 on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 am. All are welcome.
Cremation was private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
