Over 500 Pennsylvanians lacing up for 45th Radnor Run for lung health

Posted

The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania is hosting its 45th annual Radnor Run at the Radnor Township Building and grounds in Wayne this weekend. The Radnor Run is an outdoor in-person event, beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30.

More than 500 participants throughout the state and neighboring states will lace up their sneakers for lung health. The fundraising goal for the event is $125,000 to support research, advocacy and education for lung diseases, including lung cancer and COVID-19. Participants will complete a timed and certified 5-mile race on a challenging course through the beautiful backroads of Wayne; a 1-mile timed run for all ages or an untimed 2-mile Trail Walk for adults and youths of all ages on the scenic and stroller/wheelchair accessible Radnor Trail. Registrants can also opt to participate virtually in their own neighborhoods. All registered participants are encouraged to follow the Facebook page for event updates and to post photos.

New this year, the American Lung Association and the Radnor Township will recognize the fastest male runner with the Emlen Tunnel Trophy. Tunnell grew up in the Garrett Hill section of Radnor. Tunnel was a college and pro athlete and the first full-time African American assistant coach and first defensive player enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
