Nura Petrov hosts art show and yard sale in Upper Bucks

Posted

An exhibition of art works by Nura Petrov and an adjacent yard sale with hundreds of books in various genres, including classic and contemporary fiction and non-fiction, and an assortment of interesting and useful objects for garden and kitchen, will take place on two weekends in April at her barn/studio near Springtown in Upper Bucks County, at 5553 Route 412.

Her sculpture and paintings will be displayed both outdoors and indoors in and near her stone barn.

The early works date from her life in New Hope when she was a student of Harry Rosin’s at PAFA and in the 60s and 70s when she exhibited innovative, poly-chrome sculpture, some made of plaster and some of papier mache, at the Ney Gallery and the Lewis Gallery on Main Street.

After arriving in her present country location, her new, large sculpture constructions continued in wood, sticks and mixed media. Paintings and collages utilizing xerox texture and imagery provide “flat work” wall pieces.

Other paintings utilize spray paint in a lively, contemplative way. Her art works are conceptual but discovered and realized in physical form. Houses, chairs and ladders are motifs that frequently find their way into work that is essentially abstract and emphasizes form and spontaneity as primary aesthetic values.

Visit on the day of your choice – April 7, 8 and 9 and/or April 14, 15 and 16 – from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
