Noteworthy Business Briefs for March 16

Grim, Biehn & Thatcher of Perkasie announced that Daniel P. Martin has joined the firm as a full-time associate in the firm’s municipal law department.

A resident of Allentown, Martin received a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University and a law degree from Widener University. During his time at Widener, Martin was the Pennsylvania Law & Symposium editor on the Widener Commonwealth Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.

Martin has been admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Bucks County Bar Association. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Judge Denise M. Bowman of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), has announced the 2023 Small Business Persons of the Year from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Pennsylvania’s winner is Melinda Nearhoof of Annie’s Flooring and Commercial Services in Meadville. New Jersey’s winner is Lauren Borawski of Child’s Play Challenge Courses in Scotch Plains.

The winners will be recognized Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1 during the National Small Business Week awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. At the event, one of the state/territory winners will be announced as the 2023 National Small Business Person of the Year.
