After several hours of negotiations, a man who police said was reportedly armed with a shotgun surrendered to police Friday, and was subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Police said criminal charges are pending, and there were no reported injuries to the offender, the public or to the police officers.
Township police were called in the early morning hours of Friday, April 7, to a report of a mental health warrant assistance assignment in the 300 block of West Hanover Street. They said the man refused commands to exit the house.
The additional occupants of the home were “removed,” police said, and a decision was made to initiate a “barricade subject” protocol, where numerous agencies from the Bucks County South-Central Emergency Response Team responded.
During the standoff, road closures, including Richboro Road from Mill Pond to St. Leonard’s Road, were put into place, and adjoining properties were evacuated for the safety of the public, police said. The roads were open again by noon.
