Community Choir to give free concert

Posted

The New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir will present a free mini-concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury.

This is the latest NHSLCC-hosted event, part of the organization’s ongoing expansion into the community.

In a somewhat different approach to learning and presenting music, NHSLCC rehearses and performs several short music blocs throughout the choral season. Each bloc includes several weeks of rehearsal on a small number of pieces, and input and instruction from a guest clinician, culminating in a Tuesday evening mini-concert.

The all-volunteer/non-audition choir’s March 12 performance includes a mixture of music from Haydn, Poulenc, Seeger, Blake, Bryant, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and more. Piano accompanist Roburt Gajdos will also be featured, and there just might be a sing-along or two.

“Music is medicine and music is for everyone,” says NHSLCC founder/artistic director Rick Rosen. “Our basic idea is to make music and musical expression accessible not just to those who enjoy the “upper levels” of listening and performance, but to one and all. Our goal is to learn and to make good music, and we’d like to invite the community in to share in the results.”
