New fall art classes offered at AOY Art Center

Posted

AOY Art Center in Lower Makefield has new art classes starting the week of Oct. 31.

From Alla Prima painting for adults to Printing Palooza for youth, AOY is offering 17 new art classes for everyone, with every skill level this fall.

Two new classes focus on the themes of Surrealism and another on Fantasy Art. Both are being instructed by George Apotsos and only through AOY.

“Using your imagination is a great resource for subject matter in your artwork,” said Apotsos.

Surrealism is an art form with which his own work has been closely associated. “Hello Dali! Surrealism and Narrative Painting” for adults runs from Oct. 31 to Dec. 12. Apotsos explained that his ideas are inspired from all sources of material.

“Drawing and Painting Fantasy Art” for ages 6-13 runs from Nov. 3 to Dec. 15. Through this course Apotsos will teach the tools, techniques and creative processes of surrealist artists so participants can create their own dreamlike characters and scenarios full of symbolism and imagination.

AOY also is offering two watercolor workshops this November. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, award-winning artist Aida Birritteri returns to AOY for “Creating Watercolors with Grays.” A basic watercolor primer for beginners is being offered on Tuesday, Nov. 29 with instructor Jill Tressel.

Through November and December, AOY is also offering art workshops for those Days Off from School, including Foodie Favs (a half day), and Origami and School of Rock (both are half days and run for three consecutive days Dec. 27-29.

These are part of the wide selection of classes and workshops being offered by AOY in the Fall 2 session. Interested persons can explore all the offerings at aoyarts.org.
