Never forgotten: Bucks County marks 9/11 anniversary

Posted

Bucks County on Monday remembered the 2,973 lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

Marking the 22nd anniversary at The Garden of Reflection, Yardley-Makefield Fire Co. President Larry Newman marked with bell tolls the lives of the nine Lower Makefield residents killed in the attack.

The bell also tolled six times connoting planes striking the World Trade Center’s north and south towers, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville Pa. where the U.S. Capitol-bound Flight 93 crashed when passengers fought back.

The ceremony included a reading of the names of the Pennsylvanians and Bucks Countians who died in the attack and remarks by Judi Reiss and Tara Bane. Reiss’ son Joshua and Bane’s husband Michael both perished in the North Tower.
