Multifaith service in Princeton to commemorate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Posted

The Princeton Clergy Association and the Princeton-based Coalition for Peace Action are co-sponsoring the annual Multifaith Service in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, the federal holiday designated to honor his birthday.

The service will be held at Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau St., across from Palmer Square. There is no parking lot at the church, so parking may be challenging. Paid parking garages on Chambers, Spring and Hulfish streets, and on-street meter parking are closest.

In-person attendees are urged to wear masks and to arrive early. For those wanting to attend online, the service will also be livestreamed. The link and further information can be found under Upcoming Events at peacecoalition.org.

The preacher will be the Rev. Vernon Byrd Jr., pastor of St. Matthew AME Church in Philadelphia. Diverse faith leaders will co-lead the liturgy, and a Unity Choir with participants from a range of faith groups will also perform.

During the service, a free-will offering will be received, which will be split equally between Not in Our Town-Princeton and the Princeton-based Peace Action Education Fund of the Coalition for Peace Action.

The service is free and open to the public. For information, visit peacecoalition.org or call 609-924-5022.
