Posted

Saturday, April 9, 2022, the American Lung Association in Philadelphia returns to Three Logan Square on 1717 Arch Street in Philadelphia, for the Fight For Air Climb, starting at 7:30 a.m. In its 16th year, the event is operating as a hybrid event with both indoor and virtual options. Participants will climb up 50 floors, totaling 1,088 steps with a fundraising goal of $250,000 to support lifesaving research, local programs, and advocacy to end lung disease.

City Tap House on 18th Street at Two Logan Square - is open to participants, friends and family members to watch the finish line on live feed from 9 a.m. to noon.

David Skalski is among the participants. Less than five years ago, Lancaster resident David Skalski (Ski for short) underwent a lung transplant after being diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease and a very rare case of Myosistis MDA5 that destroyed his lung in just days. Three years after surviving the grueling lung transplant, Ski, an avid mountain climber, ascended to 16,444 feet on Mount Kilimanjaro and there, he honored his organ donor, John Tuzak, a 26-year-old from Chicago, by spreading his ashes on the mountain.
