Middletown Township Human Relations Commission hosts conversation on disabilities

Posted

The Middletown Township Human Relations Commission hosts a community conversation on “Disabilities and the Can Do Attitude” 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25.

The free webinar will feature a panel of experts and disabled persons discussing issues and potential solutions to the challenges faced by disabled persons in the township.

One in 4 Americans have a disability that impacts major life activities. The Americans with Disabilities Act recognized that while disabilities in no way diminish a person’s right to fully participate in all aspects of society, many people with disabilities are precluded from doing so because of discrimination.

The Middletown Township Human Relations Commission (HRC) was established by the Board of Supervisors in 2020 to identify and remediate discrimination in the township, including discrimination against the disabled. The commission is seeking input on obstacles faced by the disabled through a voluntary survey, which disabled persons and their caregivers can fill out (go to the Resources tab at: https://www.middletownbucks.org/Government/Boards-Commissions/Human-Relations-Commission).

Everyone in the community is invited to attend the Oct. 25 webinar. Zoom link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85143173256?pwd=TEhNTUp4R3Y5TnloNk5KZ0dxcGlxUT09.
