MBIT students create gingerbread houses

Posted

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology first-year Culinary Arts and Science students took part in a gingerbread house project in December.
The students were provided with the gingerbread recipe and templates for cutting out their house. The first step was baking the gingerbread, and then assembling the house. Once that was completed, the students began the creative and detailed planning to decorate their gingerbread house.
All of the ingredients used to decorate were required to be edible, which prompted some creative problem solving skills. The students brought in candy, cereal, nuts, pretzel sticks and much more to decorate their houses. There was a house with roasted nuts for the stonework on fireplace and another with sliced almonds for roof shingles.
