Posted

The 2019 SkillsUSA District 2 Leadership Conference was held in November at Kalahari Resorts in the Pocono Mountains.

SkillsUSA is the national student government organization for students in trade, industrial, and technical education. The purpose of the Leadership Conference “is to bring together students from nine career and technical high schools in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties to provide leadership training in parliamentary procedure, officer’s duties, teamwork, problem solving and social skills.

The conference aims to encourage district unity and school spirit. It is a time for the sharing of ideas between students and advisors from different schools.” The theme for the 2019 Leadership Conference was “Get the Gears Turning.”

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology had 31 students participate in the 2019 SkillsUSA District 2 Leadership Conference. In addition to the knowledge and skills gained during the conference, students had the opportunity to participate in competitions focusing on leadership and school spirit. MBIT students brought home a number of wins including third place for Pin Design and first for Door Sign Design Competitions; both awards were won by Zakhrie Hendrawan, a junior at Central Bucks High School West.

All students attending the conference received their leadership pins upon completion of the SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Conference.
