Matthew Siano

Compassionate. Resolute. Genuine and funny. Loyal. Purveyor of fascinating stories. Expert gardener. Matthew “Jay” Siano concluded his brief yet courageous battle with cancer on Aug. 30, 2022 at his home in New Hope, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and his beloved wife, Peggy. A proud great-grandfather, Jay was 84.

A successful entrepreneur, owner of Awnings New Hope, and possessor of the quickest route home from anywhere, Jay’s steadfast, consistent and fiercely loyal support of every member of his family – near and far – could only be matched by his unique knowledge of Bucks County’s best farm stands, his passion for canoe adventures and his confidential check-ins with all those he cared about.

A son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jay is treasured by his entire family for his laughter, his open and accepting hugs, his love for his wife, and his amazing generosity in all things. An accomplished sailor, amateur collector of Bucks County-themed art and a marvelous cook, Jay Siano was a man cherished for his steadfast support of everyone in his vast orbit as much for his copious summer zucchini crops as his unexpected deliveries of fresh fruit from impromptu road trips. With a curious mind and lots of engineering ingenuity, “Poppop” could work across the construction spectrum and wrangle trailers full of kayaks with a few pulls of one of his hundreds of memorized knots.

Jay’s irreplaceable wisdom and belief in each person’s individual strengths will forever be one of his countless gifts to this world and his family.

Donations in Jay’s memory may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, PO Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931 (buckscountyspca.org) or to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, 1531 Upper Stump Road, Chalfont, PA 18914 (aark.org).
