Mary Lee McGrath of Doylestown, Pa., passed away at home on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023. She was 83 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Leon and Mary (Murphy) Harvey, she resided in Doylestown, Pa., as well as Orwigsburg, Pa., where she was closer to her grandchildren. Mary Lee and her husband John had a winter vacation home in Palm Coast, Fla., where they enjoyed time with all their golfing buddies from Bucks County. She enjoyed traveling the world and cherished her time living in Kenilworth, England, and Shannon, Ireland, afforded by her husband’s international career.
Mary Lee graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1958, and received a nursing degree from St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1961. She was formerly employed as a registered nurse and worked in maternity, emergency, psychiatric and geriatric medicine during her career. Mary Lee enjoyed sailing their boat in the British Virgin Islands, playing golf, listening to Irish and classical music, hosting family gatherings, spending time with her card club (where cards were seldom played), and was an avid Eagles fan.
Mary Lee was the beloved wife of the late John Patrick McGrath; devoted mother of Maureen McGrath Zimmerman and late husband John Patrick Zimmerman, and Michele Bosack and husband Timothy; dear sister of Virginia Helmstreit and late husband Michael, the late Kathleen Aucamp who is survived by her husband Richard, and Margaret Howard and husband James; loving grandmother of Madison Joanne Bosack, John Robert Bosack, and Shelby Lee Bosack; cherished great-grandmother of Julius Robert Calcano and Aceyin Ryder Bosack; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may greet the family on Friday, October 20, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 N. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon from 2-5 p.m. at the historic Plumsteadville Inn, 5902 Easton Road, Pipersville, PA 18947. An interment service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Schuylkill Memorial Park, 82 Memorial Drive, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
