Margery R. Stumpfrock

Posted

Margery R. Stumpfrock, of Ottsville, passed away at her residence on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023. She was 86.

She was the beloved wife of Ronald R. Stumpfrock for 39 years until his death in 2008.

Born in Philadelphia, Margie was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Margaret E. (Carson) Riley. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Helena’s Little Flower High School, Olney.

While primarily a homemaker in her early years, happily caring for her husband and four children, she also helped run the family farm. From 1988-1999, with her husband and son Steven, she helped manage Hemlock Campground and Cottages in Tobyhanna, Pa.  She retired in 2000 and returned to the family farm. Margie had also sold Avon for many years, as well as life insurance through A.L. Williams.

A member of Good Shepherd Church, Hilltown, Margie frequently read Scripture verses during Sunday worship services. She was also active with the annual Advent store and book sale.

She was a lifetime member of the NRA. As a 30+ year member of “The Lunch Bunch,” she had met every Wednesday for lunch with a longtime group of friends. Margie had also enjoyed yearly gatherings with her classmates from Little Flower High School.

An avid doll collector, Margie also loved the beach, her annual sibling reunions, swimming in her Endless Pool each morning, playing cards, traveling, and RV camping. Other favorite pastimes were dancing to country music, shopping, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, gardening and growing vegetables that she always gave away to family and friends. Most important to her was time spent with her family.

Mrs. Stumpfrock is survived by her four children: Lee Crouthamel and her husband, Alan, of Perkasie; Wallace Crossan, of Coopersburg; Mark Crossan and his wife, Laura, of Ottsville; and Steve Stumpfrock and his wife, Lori, of King of Prussia. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Neil, Laura Beth, Lauren, Sam, Brent, Rachel, Charles, Andrew, Alexa, Shannon, and Seth; one great-grandson, Chase; and four great-granddaughters: Amelia, Aubrey, Olivia, and Tessa. Margie is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters: Jeanne Smith, Chuck Riley, John Riley, Kate Lear and Patrick Riley, and 11 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lis Crossan.

Margie’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Good Shepherd Church, 1634 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA 18927, where a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margie’s name may be made to Good Shepherd Church, P.O. Box 132, 1634 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA 18927.
