Many lifelong Republicans in an uneasy place

Posted

The Republican Party in Pennsylvania has been taken over by the Trump MAGA crowd, leaving many lifelong Republicans in an uneasy place.

The importance of this election cannot be overstated, especially for Republicans uncomfortable with the radical changes brought about by the pro-Trump hijacking of their party.

At stake is the future of the Republican Party as we have known it for nearly half a century. The party of Ronald Reagan.

If the Trump endorsed candidates and their enablers — Mastriano, Oz, and Polinchock — win it will mark the end of the PA Republican Party of Tom Ridge, Dick Thornburgh and Jim Greenwood. Extremism will prevail and there is no telling where it will end. Non MAGA Republicans sense this but find it difficult to vote Democratic. I get that. My father was a lifelong Republican who only voted for a Democrat at the end of his life and did so not to hurt his party but to save it.

Registered Republicans will determine where their party goes from here.
