Madolyn T. Brittingham

Madolyn (Tichenor) Brittingham passed away peacefully at her home in Doylestown, Pa., on June 11, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born in Penns Park, Pa., to Paul Tichenor and Grace (Albright).

Lynn, as she was known to her friends and business associates, graduated from Council Rock High School, Class of 1952. She attended Ithaca College Business School, Ithaca, N.Y. Lynn began a long, distinguished career in the travel industry with TWA Airlines in Chicago, Ill. She eventually transferred back to the area to work in the Philadelphia TWA Regional Office.

Lynn met and married Lindley Brittingham of Ardmore, Pa., who predeceased her in 1970. Lynn worked for several years at Vista Travel in Doylestown eventually opening her own agency 30 years ago in New Hope, Pa. Lynn’s career has taken her to all corners of the world traveling for pleasure as well as serving several philanthropic causes. Lynn was one of the first to join the Rotary International Organization when it opened its membership to women. It was with this organization that she traveled several times with Bill Gates’ Polio Eradication Program for children in India and Madagascar. Through the years Lynn has been a patron supporting both students and staff financially at the Sega Girls School in Tanzania, Africa. One of her more recent interests has been supporting Little Longears Miniature Donkey Rescue in New Oxford, Pa.

Lynn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Brittingham of Stockton, N.J.; a dear sister, Shirley Chantler, of Westborough, Mass.; her sister-in-law, Mary Tichenor of Honey Oye Falls, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation services were private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home/Central Bucks Crematory, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
