Louise Taylor Heath

Louise Taylor Heath of Doylestown died on January 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald J. Heath, and their two cherished sons, Kyle and Ross.

Born in Chicago, Mrs. Heath was the daughter of T. Howard Taylor and Teckla S. Johnson Taylor.

She retired in 1999 from The Intelligencer, where she was employed as the religion editor. Previously, she was employed as a secretary by Link-Belt Co. in Chicago. She was also employed by York Community High School in Elmhurst, IL as a theme grader.

She graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago in 1949 and from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1953. She served on the Alumni Board of Directors for the college and also served as secretary of the board.

Louise was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown where she served on the church council and was a lay communion assistant and Sunday school teacher. She was previously a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard, IL.

The Doylestown branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) benefited greatly by the loyal membership of Louise. She was named Outstanding Woman of the branch in 1993 and led cultural trips for the organization for many years.

Louise belonged to Chapter AF of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the American Swedish Historical Museum, the Augustana Heritage Association, the James A. Michener Art Museum and the Bucks County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Religion Communicators Council.

Louise’s hobbies included walking, writing, sewing and reading. She was a fan of the Phillies and the White Sox and also enjoyed watching professional tennis.

Louise was a kind, intelligent woman who will be dearly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by many dear friends who are grateful to Curtis Cowgill for stepping forward to assist Louise with her affairs following the deaths of Don and Ross.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown. Gifts in Louise’s memory can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901.
