Lorraine Meehan

Posted

Lorraine Helen Meehan (nee Cummings) was called to heaven on February 7, 2024. Affectionately known as “Mom-Mom Rufus,” she passed peacefully days before her 87th birthday.

Lorraine is survived by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Edward C. Meehan, and her two children, Edward C. Meehan, Jr. (Maranna); and Lisa Marie Meehan (Grey Warner). She is also survived by her three beloved granddaughters, Sophia and Tess Meehan and Gabriella Warner as well as step-granddaughters, Katie Warner and Sarah Harms (Chris), great grandchildren Otis and Agnes, dear friend Solomon Patterson and many nieces and nephews and plus two darling dogs. Lorraine grew up in Olney and met her soulmate Ed Meehan at a high school dance at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys. For Ed, it was love at first sight. Lorraine and Ed married in 1960. They raised their family in Cheltenham, Villanova and Devon before making their final move to Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Before retiring, Lorraine worked directly for several renowned oncologists at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Cancer Center. After retiring, she devoted much of her time to helping care for and sharing life lessons and abounding love with her three precious granddaughters. She loved all things chocolate, was fond of socializing at Happy Hours and a keen traveler in the US and abroad. She loved animals big and small, especially dogs, to whom she was known as “the treat lady.”

The Meehan family wishes to thank all those who helped care for Lorraine over the past few months and years, especially those at The Garden at Pine Run, the Active Adult Daycare and Neshaminy Manor.

Lorraine was adored by many for her immense kindness, generosity, and warm nature. She always had a smile and was quick to laugh. She will be missed by all but those of us who were lucky to know her are very fortunate.

Please join family and friends for a Requiem Mass in celebration of her life at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Friday, February 16th. Family will receive visitors starting at 9:00 a.m. with services from 9:45 a.m.
