Our dear mother, grandmother, cousin, friend and neighbor, Lois Trauger, lifelong resident of Plumsteadville, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 at age 81 following a brief illness.
Born Lois Ann Hunsberger to Plumsteadville dairy farmers, George and Anna, Lois enjoyed helping her father and the hired hands with the animals in the barn and fields.
Following the 2016 death of the love of her life, Bill (William E. Trauger), whom she met at Central Bucks High School and married shortly after her graduation in 1957, Lois found support in her many friendships, countless games of bingo, traveling, regular trips to area casinos, and family gatherings where she provided a spark of life, light and humor that all who knew her will miss so much.
Together with Bill, Lois had two children, Jeffrey Trauger (Colleen) and Pamela Byers (Robert) and unofficially adopted a third, Gabriele Bauer (Chris Guadagnino). Her five grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Samuel, George and Ken were supported by her unconditional love and found Lois to be by far the most fun-loving member of the family.
To many, Lois was known as the “Doylestown Shoe Lady” for her years of work at Arnold’s Family Shoes in Doylestown Shopping Center. She was a volunteer for decades with the Ladies Auxiliary of Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company and also helped frequently with events at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Doylestown. In addition to her volunteer efforts, she also frequently reached out to help others in need.
Lois made friends easily. She loved to talk with family, friends and neighbors as well as those she had only just met. She was strong-willed, open, direct and lived life on her own terms. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Her service and interment will be private.
