Lenape Chamber performs second Summer Gala Concert

Posted

The Lenape Chamber Ensemble will present the second of its two Summer Gala Concerts at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Delaware Valley University’s Life Sciences Building Auditorium at 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown.
This final Lenape concert of the summer season offers a combination of musical styles and eras, and includes one particularly unusual composer.
The program begins as the early classical specialist violinist Katie Hyun, and prize-winning pianist Marcantonio Barone perform the “Sonata No. 2 in A Major” for violin and piano by Joseph Bologne-Le Chevalier de Saint-George, born in 1745 in the French colony of Guadeloupe and educated in Paris.
Edvard Grieg’s “String Quartet No. 1 in G minor,” which became one of the most original and influential quartets of the late 19th century, will be played by violinists Cyrus Beroukhim and Hyun, violist Dana Kelley and cellist Alberto Parrini.

Barone, Beroukhim and Parrini return to the stage to perform Beethoven’s “Piano trio in B-flat,” the dynamic “Archduke,” dedicated to Archduke Rudolf.
Members of the audience can meet and chat with the musicians at a reception following the concert.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and are available at the door or online at lenapechamberensemble.org. Parking is free. For information call 610-294-9361.
