Last Frenchtown Cemetery tour of season to benefit local food pantries

Posted

All of the money raised from The Lower Cemetery Tour in Frenchtown, N.J., at 2 p.m. Sunday, will benefit the local Methodist and Presbyterian food pantries.

Tour-goers visit the older part of the Frenchtown Cemetery, where Rick Epstein tell them how Abe Lincoln helped Capt. William Slater, how T. Powers Williams played an epic prank on the town, how Lew Slater helped rescue Mrs. Robinson’s geese, how Charlie Slack celebrated the end of the Civil War, and lots more.

The tour takes about 90 minutes and costs $15, but it’s free for teenagers. No need to register for this one; just drive into the cemetery and Epstein will show you where to park.

If you want a copy of his Frenchtown history book, bring an extra $30.
