Lamberto G. Bentivoglio, MD

Lamberto G. Bentivoglio, MD, passed away on January 3, 2023, at 94 years of age from complications of a stroke.

He was born on June 3, 1928 in Rome, Italy. Lamberto was an interventional cardiologist, retired from Lankenau Medical Health. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Donnelly Bentivoglio, his sons Gian Paolo (Chris), Antonio (Naomi) and grandchildren Connor, Micaela Hartin and Alexander. He was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Delia Bentivoglio.

He completed his medical training in Milan, Italy and internship, residency and Fellowship in Philadelphia. He completed a secondary fellowship in Pulmonary medicine at McGill in Canada. After becoming a medical doctor, he pursued his master’s in biomedical engineering at Drexel University. He was a pioneer in coronary angioplasty and introduced coronary angioplasty in the United States developed by Andreas Gruentzig, MD. He co-authored a textbook on cardiac catheterization and published many journal articles. He had a great impact on young physicians, colleagues and patients.

Lamberto loved opera, classical music, singing and dancing. He actively supported The Academy of Vocal Arts, Bucks County Opera Association and the Michener Art Museum.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to The Academy of Vocal Arts, the Michener Art Museum or Lankenau Medical Health.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Whitemarsh Memorial Park - Wayside Chapel, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002 on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
